The African fashion industry has risen beyond the confines of the continent into becoming a recognizable assemblage of bliss on the global fashion radar. The DFA is among the perfect platforms that allows budding fashion designers to display their creativity and talent to the world. The event which had Access Bank PLC, as one of its sponsors was held on October 3 – 5, 2019, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos. The DFA event featured a fashion academy, a marketplace and a live fashion show where singers like Tiwa Savage and Burna Boy entertained the audience with their beautiful renditions. Prior to the event, there was an online challenge offering entrants an opportunity to learn from some of the best hands in the African fashion industry and an opportunity to showcase their work to a wide range of guests at the DFA Marketplace. Over 1,000 entries were recorded in Nigeria alone. Following due process, 6 finalists were selected from across Africa and they actively participated in the DFA Bootcamp. It was three days of grandeur, self-expression and style by not only the designers but also the attendees. Fashion was the language everyone who graced the event spoke. We believe that by supporting a platform such as Design Fashion Africa, the African Fashion Industry is set to erupt!
